Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)
Course Overview
BCA is three year course segregated into six semesters. The syllabus covers 50% theory and 50% practical. The syllabus hold technical, non-technical, and personality development subjects, to make student technically strong, rapid problem solver, and confident enough to represent himself/herself to the world.
By completing 3-year degree of Bachelor of Computer Applications graduate student clutch confident to vie in promote him in world technology or education. A graduate can pursue a Master's degree or Post-graduate Diplomas in the same domain. A student can bring evolution in his studies in streams like Computer Applications, Mater of Business Administration in Information Systems and Business Administration in Operations. Also, various post-graduate diplomas like Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA), in Computer Commercial Applications (PGDCCA) and in Business Statistics and Computer Applications (PGDBSCA) etc. are being offered by the several reputed colleges. A BCA degree in Punjab and that too from an NBA and NAAC (Grade "A") accredited institution can catapult you to the various professions like Database Administrator, Computer Programmer, System Administrator or Computer Support Service Specialist in reputed IT companies like Infosys, Wipro, ITC InfoTech Limited, etc.
Duration
BCA is a 3-year Bachelor’s degree comprising 6 Semesters
BCA (LEET) is a 2-year Bachelor's degree comprising 4 Semesters
Eligibility Criteria
The candidates seeking admission in BCA should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination in any stream through a recognized Board / University / Council.
Mode of Admission
Amritsar College of Engineering & Technology possesses its own Scholarship cum Entrance Exam i.e. AGC NEST to initiate its admission process into various engineering as well as management courses. Through this test, the students can avail up to 1.5 Lac off on the total academic fee.
Admission to the Third Semester of Bachelor of Technology Programmes (LEET)
AGC’s ACET also provides direct admission to the third Semester in BCA. For this, the candidates should have cleared their Matriculation examination along with a Diploma in any Trade from the Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Chandigarh. Such examination from any other recognized State Board of Technical Education, or Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology, Longowal are also considered eligible for admission in BCA.
